Google has introduced a lot of new things at their recent 2021 I/O keynote and the star of the show was the next version of Android and its customization features. Now before we dive deep into Android 12, let’s talk about some upgrades to Google workspace.

Google has introduced a feature called Smart Canvas into Google docs. It is a collaborative note-taking and planning platform where multiple users can be added and contains a lot of pre-built layouts. Another major upgrade for GSuite comes with the integration of Google meet into Docs, Sheets and Slides which makes reviewing Documents and Presentations a Breeze.

Now coming to the Main event, Android 12. Android 12 is based on a new design scheme that Google calls Material You, and it is simply awesome. From what we saw at the keynote, this is literally pushing the boundaries of Android customization to the Point where your Android phone is going to look and feel exactly how you want it to, hence the name Material You.

Android 12 also has a feature called Colour extraction which creates a systemwide custom colour Palette based on your Wallpaper. With Android, WearOS also got an upgrade with much longer battery life optimization and much faster performance.

Those were a few highlights of the 2021 Google I/O event. I really do feel that Google has done a fantastic job with Android 12 and Material You and I look forward to trying that out in person when it comes out.
